Connecting Data People in the Sector

There are few opportunities for people who work with data in the non-profit sector to connect with each other. This is especially critical for those who are the lone "data person" in their organization and who do not have a team or colleagues in similar roles to fallback on for support.

We have begun to convene an informal network to help cultivate these relationships and provide a space for mutual support, to learn from each other, and to engage in professional development. The network connects virtually via Slack and through a monthly meet-up.

Past Meet-up Sessions:

  • 2024-01-18 - Mass Culture's Arts Data Platform (Robin Sokoloski, Mass Culture)
  • 2023-11-21 - How Ontario Trillium Foundation uses Databricks to enable better reporting and workflows (Haseeb Warsi & Michael Burch, OTF)
  • 2023-10-18 - Non-profits and using data to support the Sustainable Development Goals (Maia Pelletier, Purpose Analytics)
  • 2023-09-14 - September Social Networking Session
  • 2023-07-20 - The Ontario Nonprofit Network's Framework for Nonprofit Data Strategies (Neemarie Alam, ONN)
  • 2023-06-09 - Mastermind Session (James Arruda, Canadian Roots Exchange)
  • 2023-04-28 - Lift off!
